The following content includes draft materials for the Climate Vulnerability Assessment that were presented at the first public workshop. The data used was collected by various national, state, regional, and New Gloucester databases. We invite community members to review the information and add any comments, questions, and personal experiences that might help us refine our results for the final report.
There are two maps on the Infrastructure poster: one for transportation routes that are vulnerable to flooding by 2050 and another for buildings that are vulnerable to flooding by 2050. Are there any roads or buildings you've seen flood that aren't included on this map? Is there any infrastructure you've noticed being affected by shifts in temperatures or other extreme weather events?
The Ecosystems poster includes one map showing blocks of conserved land and another map showing the habitat of critical species. Conserved land helps protect communities and wildlife from the impacts of climate change, so we want to ensure we preserve these spaces. Do you have any additional insights on what has been presented?
This Social Vulnerability poster provides a glimpse into various characteristics of the New Gloucester community, identifying people and groups who may be most at-risk to the impacts of climate change. Are there any groups of people or neighborhoods in New Gloucester that you might be concerned about with climate hazards?
This poster identifies some of the ways climate change may affect New Gloucester's community services, natural resources, economy, and public health. It is not meant to be an exhaustive list but rather introduce some of the effects climate impacts have on the community. Are there any other effects you are worried about and would like to highlight?
